Garage door repair in Langley
Find out what to report, how to compare a repair quotation and why your exact Langley neighbourhood matters. We are a referral service—not the repair company.
Langley isn't one uniform service zone. There's Langley City, and there's the much larger Township of Langley, including Willoughby, Walnut Grove, Brookswood-Fernridge, Murrayville, Fort Langley and Aldergrove. When requesting help, include which area you're in so the company can confirm whether your address is within its service range. Township community list
Start with the symptom, not a guess at the part
A garage door that won't move isn't necessarily a failed opener. If you can safely observe the door from a distance, tell the company whether the motor runs, whether the door is crooked, whether there's a visible gap in a spring, or whether the photo-eye sensors flash. Do not touch cables, spring brackets or other tensioned hardware.
- Door stuck open: Explain whether the garage is attached to your house and whether the opening can be secured without moving the door.
- Loud bang and heavy door: Mention a possible spring failure, but do not attempt to lift the door.
- Motor hums but door stays put: Tell the company the opener model and any displayed fault indicator.
- Door binds or hangs unevenly: Stop operating it and mention visible cable or track issues.
What might spring repair cost?
A published Greater Vancouver price guide from GVA Garage Doors lists $270–$330 CAD for one torsion spring installed and $390–$510 CAD for two installed, before GST. Those are that company's advertised figures, not Valley Home Fix prices, not market averages, and not an estimate for your exact property. An Aldergrove or Fort Langley call may also involve a different travel policy than a call near Langley City, depending on the company.
| Example work | Published price, CAD |
|---|---|
| One torsion spring installed | $270–$330 |
| Two torsion springs installed | $390–$510 |
| Spring and both lift cables | $460–$560 |

Langley-specific questions worth asking
For an attached garage in Willoughby or Walnut Grove, ask whether the quote covers both safe door operation and any necessary opener adjustment. For a detached or unusually sized garage in Brookswood, Murrayville or Aldergrove, provide the door's approximate size and a photo only if a company asks for one securely.
Since the service area can span both municipalities and more distant Township neighbourhoods, ask upfront: “Do you service my exact area, and is there a diagnostic, travel or after-hours fee?” Don't rely on a website's generic “serves Langley” headline.
Before agreeing to the work
Request an itemized written quotation specifying parts, labour, GST, additional visit charges, warranty terms, and whether one or both springs are being replaced. Ask whether a second visit is required for an uncommon door size.

Common questions
Is Langley City the same as the Township of Langley for service calls?
No. They are separate municipalities. Tell the repair company your neighbourhood or postal-code prefix and whether you are in Langley City or the Township so it can confirm the coverage area and any travel fee.
What should I do if the garage door spring has snapped?
Do not try to lift or repair a heavy door with a broken spring. Keep children and pets away, avoid operating the door, and contact a trained garage-door professional.
Will Valley Home Fix send a technician immediately?
No. We do not dispatch technicians or guarantee same-day service. We may forward a consented request to up to two independent companies, subject to availability.
